FAQ What is a NEZ PERCE APPALOOSA? We describe our web site as "NEZ PERCE APPALOOSAS at the M-Y Sweetwater Appaloosa Ranch" because....... (1) We are a Nez Perce family. Rosa and the children are enrolled members of the Nez Perce Tribe; and although Jon is not, we are all part of the Nez Perce community (Nimiipu/the People). Our ranch is located on what remains of the Nez Perce homeland, Nez Perce Country, now called the Nez Perce Reservation. (2) We are closely connected (related) to the land and the animals, so our Appaloosa horses are Nez Perce because this is where we live and who we are. (3) We breed, raise and train Appaloosa horses, which are often referred to as Nez Perce Appaloosas because of their historical connection to the Tribe. (4) The ancestry of Our children and our horses ("Old Herd Appaloosas from Wallowa) go clear back to Nez Perce Chief Joseph's Band. (5) The Nez Perce Tribe refers to its new horse breed (the Nez Perce Horse Registry of Akhal-Teke and Appaloosa crosses) as the Nez Perce Horse, which we also have for sale. These are our NEZ PERCE APPALOOSAS. |
